Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, better called Ari Lennox, is an American artist and performer from Washington, D.C., who was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. In October 21st, 2016, she released Pho, her first EP under the Dreamville Records label. It was at this point that she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby, her debut album, was released on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox uploaded her music online in 2012, when she dropped her Five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. Ari Lennox continued uploading her music online including her independent single Bound. In 2015, she was featured in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. it out on 21st July. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some possible references for Rihanna. The announcement that she would be signed by Dreamville Records was made on the 8th of December. Backseat was a track she sang with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On the 21st of October in 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. In 2018, she appeared as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream on Shea Butter Baby on July 16. A music clip was released, followed by a music video September. In November, she released her singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November two singles called No One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on February 26, 2019 for the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby was featured alongside Cole in the Creed II sound track on November 16. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube February 20, 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. In support of the track she performed in concert with 6LACK in December of 2018 for the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
